Adam Curtis' new documentary premieres on BBC 2, Monday May 23rd. Called, "All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace," the show's thesis is that the computerized, hyper-connected world has not made us more free, but has enslaved us. Now, I'm a fan of Curtis' other documentaries, "The Power of Nightmares," which demonstrates the link between neo-conservatism and fundamentalist Islam, and also the amazing, "The Century of the Self," which deconstructs the manipulative powers of advertising and left-wing politics. I have to admit, as someone who believes that greater technology equals greater opportunity, the trailer for Curtis' new documentary makes me nervous. But I can't wait to see what he says about computers, and the people who control them. By the way, did you know you can Like this post on Facebook?
